We bring to you this week an intriguing clip from our past grantee, Joel Sucher, who is now working on Pacific Street’s documentary-in-production, DRESSING AMERICA, a history of Jews in the so-called shmatte business, produced in association with the Fashion Institute of America.
86-year old fabric salesman, Charlie Edelstein, still makes the trek from his Long Island home to New York’s Garment Center. A salesman for more than 55 years, Charlie’s has become somewhat of an iconic (if not lonely) presence in a business once dominated by Jews.
