David Lee Roth is much more than just a music icon and an actor. He is an author, and he is also a singer/songwriter. Most famously, he is known as being Van Halen’s lead singer, although there was a period of years where he was absent from the rock band.
Upon Roth’s return to Van Halen, the group recorded a comeback album, which has been a huge success. David Lee Roth joined the band again in 2006, after being away from them for three decades! Of course, he was the lead singer originally, from the band’s inception in 1974 until his departure in 1985.
Roth had left Van Halen after dipping his toes in a new solo career, and of course due to having creative differences with the band’s leader, Eddie Van Halen. While Roth didn’t return full-time until 2006, he did actually get with Van Halen in 1996 as well to perform.
It should also be noted that Roth and Van Halen once again had a big disagreement in 1996 during their brief reuniting. They also were brought back together in 2001, but nothing ever really came out of that reunion, musically speaking.
It wasn’t until 2006 that his return to Van Halen was indeed solidified, and he has been with them ever since. Roth’s solo career had never truly panned out much, although he had seen some success throughout the years. With an arrest, grunge rock taking over the charts and all other kinds of things going on in the 90’s Roth was happy to return to Van Halen.
Van Halen needed him, too. The band has done much better since his return, although there have still been conflicts. However, Roth as a headline for the band has prospered Van Halen, and Roth also currently broadcasts ‘The Roth Show’ on YouTube.
