by

A fabulous house stay in East Hampton, a gorgeous print of Inbal Dance Theater, and tickets to a Sept 1 Yankees game are among the 90 items available to bid on between now and Sunday, June 9.

The online auction is being held in conjunction with the Foundation’s Jewish Cultural Achievement Awards, this coming Monday June 10th at the TimesCenter in New York City.

Honorees include author Michael Chabon, conductor and university president Leon Botstein, historian Deborah Dash Moore, film producer and entrepreneur Scott Berrie, along the Lower East Side culinary institution Russ & Daughters. (Buy tickets now - Doors open at 6:30 PM).

But you don’t have to live anywhere remotely close to New York to help support the cause of Jewish Culture – or some of the best Jewish artists and scholars working today.

For example, there’s a one-week stay in a two-bedroom cottage on Cape Cod. With a private beach! Do you have a bar or bat mitzvah coming up? Then get 50% off  invitations from Kate’s Paperie.

The online auction is largely anchored by some original and elegant items from Foundation grantees.

There’s a fascinating and provocative 14 x11 photograph by artists Alina and Jeff Bliumis, created during their Six Points Fellowship for Emerging Jewish Artists, a program of the Foundation.  Casual Conversations in Brooklynby Alina and Jeff Bliumis, is an anthropological inquiry into Brooklyn’s immigrant communities.Participants in the project were provoked to react and reflect on personal and group identities in the form of a performance installation and then photographic series, which was exhibited at the Philadelphia’s National Museum of Jewish History in 2012.

Or there’s Lynne Avadenka’s Jerusalem Calendar, an elegant box set series of 67 collages created in 2011 when the artist was one of four inaugural Fellows of the Foundation’s American Academy in Jerusalem. Each collage is composed of both Jewish and secular calendar contents, maps of Jerusalem, and Hebrew and Arabic letters that are cut out and then composed to imagine a lively and inventive alphabet, from and for the city of Jerusalem.

For music fans, there’s a chance to have an in-house one-hour concert by Clare Burson, along with a set of 5 CDs. Burson, who was a fellow of the Foundation’s Six Points Emerging Jewish Artist program, is a classically trained violinist who has also studied Bluegrass, Celtic and Klezmer fiddle tunes.

We’ve also supported a number of excellent, high-profile Jewish documentaries. Among these is Aviva Kempner’s The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg, about the extraordinary baseball player who transcended ethnic and religious prejudice to become a hero for all Americans. Bid on a new two disc commemorative DVD set, which includes over two hours of extras, along with a Hank Greenberg baseball hat and an autographed film poster. Or else get a package with all of Aviva Kempner’s documentary and a chance to meet her in the editing suite.

There’s also the “Adam Zucker package”– signed DVDs of two award-winning documentaries by Zucker, including Greensboro: Closer to the Truth (2007) and Carol Channing: Larger than Life (2011). If yours is the winning bid, you can also have a chance to meet and talk with Adam Zucker, or join him for a sound mixing session of The Return. This upcoming documentary, a grantee of the Foundation’s Kroll Fund for Jewish Documentary Films, is a look at the unique reality of being young and Jewish in Poland today.

Auction items aren’t limited to foundation grantees. You can also bid on everything from the luxurious to the exotic to the absolutely unique:
